Terms of Service
When commissioning me you agree to the following terms:
♡ The currency used will be US dollars unless specified otherwise.♡ You'll get a rough estimate of the amount of time any given project will take to be completed (give or take a couple of days) after I share the first rough sketch with you. After that, you'll be notified if there's any issues or reasons for a delay.♡ Sending a down payment is necessary for me to start working on your commission. You might request sketches/concept art/a picture of any stage within the illustration process (sketch, linework, flat colors, variants) after the transfer is complete.♡ Canvas sizes are final when I start the inking process and cannot be enlarged once set without losing quality on the drawing. I do not work with vectors or make a bigger version of an illustration than the previously agreed upon by the client.♡ If my commission price sheet were to be modified while I'm working on a client’s commission, the new rates won’t apply to them as long as there was an already agreed upon price beforehand and the down payment has gone through. I'm always obligated to disclose any budget/price changes that might affect my clients while working with them.♡ I (miuyumi) have the right to post partial or complete depictions of the work I produce for clients on social media on a smaller canvas size or lower resolution than the original whenever possible, as well as using said artwork under my discretion for exposure purposes only. I'm not allowed to commercialize the client’s I.P. or claim it as my own.♡ In case a character design is requested, the I.P. of said design will be created by me, under the client's directions, and will be transferred to them once the final payment goes through. The client will then own the I.P. of the character, but will still need to credit me as the artist.♡ I (miuyumi) am able to reuse part of background designs or secondary assets that don't pertain to the main commission design on other works. (Examples: leaves on a background wall, a standard bookcase, a clothing pattern, border decoration, sparkles or hearts around the characters, etc). The client can ask for every part of their commission's design to be and remain completely unique by paying an appropriate amount as an extra, to compensate me for the time it'd take to produce each asset from scratch.♡ Partial refunds will be issued if both the client and I (miuyumi) are unable to reach a mutual agreement or compromise on any issues that might arise.♡ A commission will constitute a fully digital art piece unless specified otherwise. I will not send a physical copy of the work unless agreed upon and specified beforehand. If there’s a need for a physical package to be delivered to the client, both parties will choose and agree on a mailing agent and the shipment fee will be covered by the client. As long as it's a digital commission the client SHOULD NOT provide their shipping address to PayPal (checking the “No address needed” box on the last step of the payment verification process), since it might insinuate that exists an expectation of a physical delivery. If the client forgot to do so (or ignored this warning), I as the artist (miuyumi) am not responsible to provide such an item in the event that the client chooses to falsely report this allegedly unfulfilled order to PayPal.
Nothing made by Miuyumi may be used in any blockchain-related technology, including NFTs, cryptocurrency or future inventions in this area.
The client must specify if the art being commissioned by them will be used commercially beforehand, so we can negotiate the terms and the according fee.
Client's Rights, Obligations & Permissions
As a paid costumer of mine:
♡ It's your obligation as a client that reaches out to commission me to read these Terms of Service, and to proceed with the commission process only after both having done so and having agreed to them.♡ By paying the final invoice you, as the costumer, declare your conformity with the services or products rendered to you by me, the artist.♡ A client might request sketches/proofs of concept/process pictures at any point - as long as they have made at least a partial payment on their commission.♡ As a client, you might request changes to the design at any point in time after you've paid at least the invoice for the down payment; however if I deemed said change a sufficient increase in my workload, an extra fee will apply. In said case, the modifications will be realized after both parties agree to the cost of said fee which will be added to the final price once the commission is finished, or paid in the spot if the work has been completed or if the client has decided not to continue with the commission process.♡ Up to 3 small changes or edits to to the final piece may be requested free of charge within a week of the transaction being finalized. If I consider the modification large enough to merit extra compensation, a fee will be agreed upon by both parties and the new version of the work will be sent after its completion, once the payment has gone through.♡ Digital copies of the commission will be sent to an e-mail address provided by the client in a zip file, including design variations of said artwork. The client may also ask for copies of the sketch or other parts of the process free of charge.♡ The client is allowed to physically print, make use and post their commission in social media as long as it's for personal use only and will not claim my (miuyumi's) work as their own or try to impersonate me.♡ The client agrees to credit me (as "miuyumi") whenever possible, and is not allowed to remove the artist's signature unless specified.♡ The client may NOT resell my artwork. If the client has commissioned a character design and has paid for the IP of said design, they may only auction or resell the design itself.

Q: I had something in mind but I don't see that kind of thing on the list of commission work you do..
A: Ask me about it! Don't be shy, worst thing that can happen is I'll say "Oh sorry, I don't do this kind of thing". There's things I've always wanted to do that aren't listed here because I haven't worked on anything like them yet! For example, I've always wanted to design tattoos :>
Q: What's the difference between soft and hard brushes?
A: Like the name says, hard brushes tend to have a tighter pixel count and be more opaque compared to soft brushes, which tend to be less opaque and have a softer, sometimes textured finish.
Q: What's the difference between simple shading and cell shading ?
A: Similar to the difference between soft and hard brushes, cell shading refers to a more "blocky" style of shading that is not softened using the blend tool unlike my simple shading technique does; hence why I don't think it's compatible with my full shading style since it's characterized by a combination of both hard and soft shading techniques.You'll see examples of cell shading in many 2D anime and animated movies/shows!
Q: Do you take requests? (free commissions)
A: I used to back when I first got my tablet since I was getting acquainted to it, but not anymore. I do art as a job and I need to pay bills just like you and everyone else.Sometimes I will do a giveaway though! If you follow me on social media you might get lucky :>
Q: How much do you charge for drawing more than 1 character?
A: Depending on the type of design, it can vary from 30%+ to double the original price for the type of commission you want.For example, if the other character is a pet or child, then it'd be cheaper than to draw another adult because it'd take less time. And even for adult characters, if the composition allows some part of both or at least 1 character to be obscured (say the 2nd/extra character is hugging the main character from behind and all you can see if their head and arms) it'd be cheaper than to render 100% of the other character (say, if they are just standing there posing with the 1st character). So it's determined on a case by case basis.
Q: I saw someone else's signature called "Yin Miushi/Miushi" on your art/older posts.. ?
A: Ah, yes! I used to go by that name until 2021 when I decided to rebrand :D
Q: Do you only use PayPal as a payment method?
A: I accept coffees over ko-fi.com as well! But other than that, I haven't had the need to diversify and PayPal is my preferred payment option.
Q: You mention the possibility of getting a smaller canvas for a discount on a commission's price, how does that work?
A: You'll see this message under several types of commissions where I've deemed it can be applied, but I always try and be flexible with my pricing offering clients ways to reduce the price of my work so it'd fit their budget better.I don't think every piece of art needs to be as big as possible, so I offer some discounts to clients if they are content with sizing the piece down a bit - smaller canvases tend to translate into less work time, which in turn means less expensive.
Q: Can you make this < insert image of commission I just made > bigger?
A: It depends, but as a general rule I can't. I work with rasterized canvasses and brushes (unless specified otherwise) and the image would pixelate and just wouldn't look as good stretched out (you can get away with increasing the size a tiny bit, but overall you'd be able to tell with the finer details.)
Q: What does "rasterized" mean?
A: It means that every brush stroke on the digital canvas is "set" the moment it's made, and if it's stretched out to a different size the pixels filled with color will shift places or spawn extra pixels to try and fill out the space, making it look pixelated and a bit blurry; therefore the finished result will lose sharpness and won't look as high quality as the original image.
Q: What drawing programs do you use?
A: I use Clip Studio Paint for drawing and sometimes Photoshop CS6 for compiling gifs or doing editing when necessary!
Q: What drawing tablet do you use?
A: I use a Wacom Intuos Pro M.

Step by Step
A friendly guide to my commissioning process!
1- Contact
Make contact with me through email and I'll reply as soon as possible* and ask what type of commission you'd like!
*(keep in mind it might take me up to a couple days to do so sometimes)
2- Description
Express what you had in mind regarding the commission; start with what type of art you were looking for and describe any specifics about your vision as you can. Please share references* and what your budget is with me.There's no such thing as too much info while in this step so don't be shy :>
*(drawings/other art you've commissioned, Google images, photos, etc)
3- Rough Sketch
I'll make a rough sketch* after compiling the information and references you've provided me with earlier. I'll try some poses/concepts if we have several ideas in mind for you to choose from.You can take some time to think about it before completely committing to the idea and commission project with me.
*(for the most part, the bare minimum to use as concept art for us to move forward with)
4- Detailed Sketch
At this point in time I'll ask a down payment from you to ensure myself that you're committed to this project. I'll ask for an email address so I can send an invoice with approximately 30%* of the final price.I'll make a cleaner, more detailed sketch of the concept art you've decided to move forward with for you to approve of. Please make note of any modifications to the design as you need either before or during this part of the process. Subsequent changes might cost extra after this point.

5- Linework / Ink
Once the down payment has gone through and the sketch has been approved of* I'll start inking the piece. You'll receive a preview of the inked linework to review and approve of once again, before moving to the last stages of the commission.Please make note of any modifications to the design as you need either before or during this part of the process. Changes to the linework might cost extra after this point.
*(keeping tabs on any and all notes from the client in regards to design changes they would like)
6- Coloring
After the linework is complete and approved of, I'll start coloring your piece. By this point I should have been provided with a color palette, and will ask for one in the case I haven't - you can either send pictures of specific colors and hues you like or describe them to me as best you can*.Please make note of any modifications to the design as you need either before or during this part of the process. Changes to the coloring might cost extra after this point.
*(I might send a couple color versions for you to choose from in that case)
7- Final Review
Once I consider the piece to be complete I'll send a smaller version of it as a preview for you to review and approve of.If you love the piece I'll send another invoice over for the rest of the payment and will provide you with the original illustration and any variants* of said piece by mail in a zip file.
*(I'll include color variants if any, copies of the artwork with no background, etc)
If the finished art piece were to need any small adjustments*, they fall under the grace period of the time you've paid me for up to this point; but if I were to deem any changes as substantial enough to require extra compensation, an invoice will be sent with a mutually agreed upon price and the edited piece will be sent upon completion as long as the payment has gone through.

Picking Brushes
A little bit of info to help you make an informed decision!
SOFT BRUSH
A brush that has some texture and it's not 100% opaque, grants drawings smooth, softened edges that merge very well with several layers of shading.
HARD BRUSH
(TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE)A sharper looking, 100% opaque hard brush with no texture makes cleaner lines but loses some of the soft brush's organic-feel. I use this brush with just one layer of hard shading (also called 'cell shading') and sometimes gradients to add depth.
My Coloring Process
A simple guide into shading techniques
CELL SHADING
Also called 'hard shading', it's characterized by clean edges on a (usually) single shadow layer. I personally like combining this technique with a hard brush for simpler designs that need to pop, specially hard contrast pieces.You can find this type of brush in most animated cartoon shows and anime.

SIMPLE SHADING
Also called 'soft shading', it's characterized by softened edges on a (usually) single shadow layer. I personally like this type of shading when I want to get a softer look on a piece, since it doesn't amp the contrast values as much as a more complex shading style does.I can make this type of shadng work with both hard and soft brushes.

FULL SHADING
Building from the simple shading up to a fuller, more complex finishing by adding more layers of shading, contrast and textures (when needed). It often provides a 'fuller' effect on shapes and helps details pop.I only work on this technique when inking with soft brushes, since I feel they pair up the best.It's the most time consuming type of coloring I do, therefore tends to be the most expensive one as well.
